Defending 2006 Baja 500 Champions Brian Collins (Las Vegas, NV) and Larry Ragland (Cave Creek, Ariz) of Raglan took their number 12 Collins Motorsports Chevy Silverado Trophy Truck to the overall title for a second straight year in a time of 9 hour 14 mins. The always competitive Robbie Gordon and his Monster Energy Chevy finished just 3 minutes behind the winners, which ended up good enough for 2nd place. 2006 Score Trophy Truck series champion and 2007 points leader BJ Baldwin looked to be the man to beat leading all racers heading into Ensenada when a roll over just 5 miles from the finish ended his shot for the overall win. Competing with a broken foot, BJ was able right the truck and get across the finish 3rd overall (and in class), enough to hold his current series lead and keep alive his dreams of Back-to-Back series titles. The top five was rounded out by Riviera Racing’s Mark Post and Baldwin Racing's Josh Baldwin. There were over 500 total entries with roughly 300 cars competing in this years Baja 500.

While the Trophy Trucks dominated ,taking 9 of the top 10 spots, the story of the race belongs to the Baja success of the VW Touarags. In Score’s new "International Class", VW brought two Dakar style Touarags to do their first battle in North America. Number 81, American Mark Miller, finished the 500 just 46 minutes Collins/Ragland and beating all Class 1 cars to the finish (eventually ended up behind just 1 minute behind Class 1 winner BJ Richardson). Both Miller and number 83, Giniel de Villiers (South Africa) not only finished, but both ended up within an hour over of the overall winning time and placed 11th and 18th respectively.
